Dr. Chiantella is a 1979 graduate of Georgetown University, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She received her MD degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University (now the Wake Forest University School of Medicine) in 1983, and was the first woman to complete General Surgery Internship and Residency at the Wake Forest University Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in General Surgery in 1988/89.
Dr. Chiantella is a Board Certified Surgeon whose practice is limited to care of benign and malignant conditions of the breast. In practice since 1989, she has a wealth of experience not only in diagnostic and surgical science, but in guiding her patients through the maze of care that frequently accompanies a breast cancer diagnosis. As an independent practitioner, she is loyal to her patients' needs first and foremost, and with her personal knowledge of the area's best providers of imaging, cancer care, and plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Chiantella helps each patient find the best fit for her care based individual personal needs. She understands that a well-informed patient experiences less stress, less postoperative pain, and a better quality of health. Providing education to each patient regarding her condition, and responding to her concerns, are considered basic rights due to each patient entering the practice. These are just a few of the reasons Dr. Chiantella has enjoyed a long and successful practice, with accolades from both patients and peers. Dr. Chiantella is a member of Loudoun Medical Groupand serves on the Medical Staff of Reston Hospital, the Reston Surgery Center, Inova Loudoun Hospital, and StoneSprings Hospital Center.
Dr. Chiantella has been honored several times as a Washingtonian Magazine "Top Doctor". She is the founder of the Loudoun Breast Health Network, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit which among other activities raises funds for Loudoun County residents facing financial hardship during their breast cancer treatment (please visit LBHN.org for more details!). Recognizing a community need, she established the region's only Free Clinic devoted to breast health, operated throught the Loudoun County Health Department.
